I have recently started using powdered egg whites as my PWO protein supplement, because I don't tolerate whey (and all the fillers) in other supplements. I like the convenience of the powder for PWO only. All other times I use whole foods. I am concerned that the powdered whites may not be an adequate source of protein though.

Does anyone have any insight on this? I'm considering buying the dry whites in bulk, but I wanted some feedback beforehand. Any advice is much appreciated!

I've actually read articles that indicate cooked egg whites are one of the most easily digested proteins. I've been using them for two years and I've seen good results. In addition, I don't believe that by not using whey you are missing out on making phenomenal gains. As Wet Wolf indicates that dairy is not the best source for optimizing gains.

Also, you said you mostly eat whole foods which is the best for creating a lean and muscular physique so by substituting with plain egg white powder you are doing your body no harm. I will warn you though, plain egg white powder is very sticky and leaves little to be desired as far as taste. As long as there is room in your diet for a frozen fruit, blended shake it is a good way to go.

Otherwise, I've had good luck with Optimum Nutrition Chocolate Egg Protein. It blends easily and I can put it in my shaker bottle and just add water for 120 calories and 24 grams of protein. Hope this helps!

snf,

Thank you for the reply. I definitely feel better using the dried whites over whey. I was really just concerned that they might not be a viable source of protein in that state. I guess I'm not sure how they are processed, and whether or not the "good" of them gets lost during that procedure. So far I haven't noticed any difference in training or results, but it may be too soon to tell. Thanks again!
